Dr. Waters is originally from New York City and joined the Department of Biology as a professor at Providence College in 2014. Previously, she earned an undergraduate degree in mathematics at the University of Chicago, a Ph.D. in biology at Arizona State University, and conducted postdoctoral research at Princeton University and the Field Museum of Chicago. In addition to loving ants, Dr. Waters identifies as a Jewish and transgender non-binary scientist, and enjoys activism and organizing for peace, photography, woodworking, playing music, and spending time with family.
